Alisa Pimentel

Alisa Pimentel recently graduated from Brandeis University, where she received her Bachelor’s degree in Women and Gender Studies, Islamic and Middle Eastern Studies, and Anthropology. She joined Grassroots International because of its dedication to promoting social justice on a global scale and is passionate about being part of an organization that supports efforts to help others live safe and decent lives. At Brandeis she was an active member of Students for Justice in Palestine, the Muslim Student Association,the Brandeis Feminist Majority Alliance, Brandeis Women of Color Alliance, and Students Organized against Racism. As a Muslim who has studied in Egypt and traveled throughout the Middle East, as well as a Latina who was raised in the Dominican Republic, she is sympathetic to the problems facing both regions.
