Carol is the Director of Planning and Special Initiatives at Grassroots International, following more than 11 years as the Director of Development and Communications. When she started out as an ACORN community organizer in the 1980s, Carol meant to raise hell, not money. Over time, helping movements fund and sustain their work became her main obsession, and eventually her vocation. Somewhere between knocking on doors in Boston and New York for ACORN, going to Nicaragua with Witness for Peace and working with Grassroots International, Carol earned a Masters of Divinity focusing in the intersection of theology and politics. In this role, Carol looks forward to supporting staff well-being and internal planning, coordinating new initiatives and discovering new ways of expressing solidarity.
