Platform of Haitian Human Rights Organizations (POHDH)

Group of POHDH human rights workers, Haiti.POHDH, founded in 1991, is a national coalition of nine of Haiti’s foremost human rights groups. The coalition trains people at the grassroots level to work within their communities for human rights, and to monitor and document human rights abuses.

Using a variety of outreach methods including media work and community radio, POHDH educates Haitians on their rights, especially women and children. POHDH now has a network of over 150 monitors in all 10 departments (states) of the nation. POHDH also does extensive work to monitor elections and to advocate for democratic processes. The strategic aims are to improve human rights monitoring for policy and procedural change, and to improve assistance to victims and end the culture of impunity.
