Empresas transnacionais, governos corruptos e o crime organizado est\u00e3o buscando expandir seu alcance por meio do aumento do poder militar, da viol\u00eancia, do controle de fronteiras, dos assaltos \u00e0 terra e \u00e0 \u00e1gua, dos megaprojetos extrativistas e das falsas solu\u00e7\u00f5es clim\u00e1ticas que perpetuam injusti\u00e7as. Isso tem provocado uma crescente criminaliza\u00e7\u00e3o, repress\u00e3o e ataques contra l\u00edderes comunit\u00e1rios, incluindo homic\u00eddios e sequestros, impulsionando assim uma migra\u00e7\u00e3o massiva rumo ao norte.<\/p>\n<p>No entanto, aqueles que carregam o fardo dessas injusti\u00e7as \u2013 as comunidades ind\u00edgenas, afrodescendentes e camponesas da regi\u00e3o \u2013 comp\u00f5em os mais expressivos movimentos por justi\u00e7a social e econ\u00f4mica na Am\u00e9rica Central hoje. Esses movimentos est\u00e3o questionando a crescente desigualdade e a injusti\u00e7a turbinadas por acordos de livre com\u00e9rcio, extrativismo, desregulamenta\u00e7\u00e3o e programas expressivos de privatiza\u00e7\u00e3o \u2013 o principal impulso do neoliberalismo na regi\u00e3o. Ao mesmo tempo, est\u00e3o apresentando alternativas poderosas, a come\u00e7ar por: direitos coletivos \u00e0 \u00e1gua, terra e territ\u00f3rio; prote\u00e7\u00e3o das sementes nativas e da biodiversidade; soberania alimentar; feminismos de base; justi\u00e7a clim\u00e1tica; e defesa dos direitos humanos.<\/p>\n<p>A Grassroots International apoia projetos no M\u00e9xico, Guatemala e Honduras, bem como projetos regionais que abarcam toda a Am\u00e9rica Central. Nossas organiza\u00e7\u00f5es parceiras est\u00e3o na vanguarda de movimentos vibrantes e transformadores que desafiam a opress\u00e3o de povos ind\u00edgenas e de comunidades afrodescendentes e camponesas na regi\u00e3o. Ao trabalharem na defesa dos direitos humanos, desenvolvem alternativas agr\u00edcolas e modos de vida sustent\u00e1veis em harmonia com o
