Palestinian Center for Human Rights (PCHR)

Fisherfolk in Gaza.PCHR works to protect human rights, promote the rule of law and advance democracy. PCHR has gained an international reputation as an independent voice on human rights vis-à-vis violations perpetrated by both Israel and the Palestinian Authority.

PCHR monitors and documents human rights violations, meticulously documenting attacks on protesters, farmers, fishermen and women, and citizens. PCHR provides legal aid to victims of violations and advocates for greater economic and social rights, including the rights of the Gazan fishers who have been denied access to their fishing waters by Israeli Occupying Forces. PCHR brings cases to local courts and also seeks justice for war crimes and violations of international law through international courts.

During assaults like the 2014 Operation “Protective Edge” PCHR works with an extensive group of volunteers and with other human rights organizations to document–at tremendous personal risk–the devastation to human life.
