Since 2007, Grassroots has funded advocacy, education and grassroots organizing in the United States to change policies affecting our overseas partners as well as our US allies. We continue to fund domestic ally organizations working to build the North American climate justice and food sovereignty movements.
Grassroots International provides support to the following organizations in the United States:
Grassroots also is engaged as a member of several US-based alliances which are working to build a movement led by communities of color and low-income communities most impacted by climate change and injustices in the food system within the US. We are honored to learn alongside and build connections between these grassroots organizing efforts – such as with the Climate Justice Alliance, Grassroots Global Justice Alliance, and US Food Sovereignty Alliance – and our Global South partners.
From 2017 through 2020, Grassroots International hosted and managed the BEAI Fund of the Building Equity and Alignment for Impact (BEA) initiative in order to support and resource grassroots environmental justice efforts in the US. Lessons from that experience can be found here. We continue to work in solidarity with US-based environmental justice movements through our allied partnerships with the above-mentioned groups, among others.
