Carol is the Director of Development and Communications at Grassroots International. When she started out as an ACORN community organizer in the 1980s, Carol meant to raise hell, not money. Over time, helping movements fund and sustain their work became her main obsession, and eventually her vocation. As both a fund raiser and as a grantmaker (with RESIST, Inc. on a national scale and then Grassroots International globally), she enjoys connecting the values and vision of donors who believe in social change with organizations and activists on the ground doing amazing work. Somewhere between knocking on doors in Boston and New York for ACORN, going to Nicaragua with Witness for Peace and working with Grassroots International, Carol earned a Masters of Divinity focusing in the intersection of theology and politics. In summertime, you can usually find her on the softball field.
