Rock the Boat for Kathy Ozer

#Event
February 2017

GRASSROOTS INTERNATIONAL

All of us at Grassroots International were deeply saddened to learn about the passing of Kathy Ozer, Executive Director of the National Family Farm Coalition (NFFC). The NFFC is a member and anchor organization of La Via Campesina in the US, and our one consistent US grantee, so we have had the honor and privilege of knowing Kathy well and learning so much from her over the years. As we join thousands of family farmers, food justice advocates, friends, allies, and collaborators in mourning the loss of Kathy, we must also take time to celebrate her life and legacy.

As part of the Grassroots International family, we would like to invite you to join us on Friday, February 17th from 6-9pm at the KITCHEN at the Boston Public Market for an evening of food, music, and friends as we celebrate Kathy’s life, spirit and legacy and raise funds to continue the important work of the NFFC. We are grateful to the Northwest Atlantic Marine Alliance for taking the initiative to organize this event and are honored to co-sponsor it along with Farm Aid, Food and Water Watch, Food for Maine’s Future, Gloucester Fishermen’s Wives Association, Rural Coalition, Why Hunger, and World Farmers.

The night will feature a feast of seafood dishes featuring the catch of New England’s community-based fishermen mixed with other food from the region’s family farmers. You’ll enjoy cocktails, live music by the SeaFire Kids, and cooking demonstrations by local chefs, while you remember Kathy and strategize about how to continue the fight for those who catch, grow, and raise our food.
