NEW BRIEFS HIGHLIGHT HOW CLIMATE JUSTICE MOVEMENTS ARE ADVANCING SYSTEMIC AND POLICY CHANGE

Grassroots movements are transforming the landscape of climate solutions globally, addressing the multiplicity of root causes and effects of the climate crisis in lasting ways.

The CLIMA Fund – of which Grassroots International is a member – has released two briefs on how grassroots movements change policy and create systemic change to address the climate crisis. As a collaboration among Global Greengrants Fund, Grassroots International, Thousand Currents, and Urgent Action Fund for Women’s Human Rights, The CLIMA Fund funds grassroots climate justice movements led by Indigenous Peoples, women, youth, and peasant farmers addressing the root causes of the climate crisis and cooling the planet.

In an independent analysis of 65 grant reports from 19 of its grassroots partners between 2015 – 2021, the CLIMA Fund identified 254 outcomes influencing 285 actors. The briefs demonstrate that grassroots movements are critical for advancing holistic and equitable climate action.
