Organización Boricuá de Agricultura Ecológica de Puerto Rico (Organisation d’agriculture biologique Boricuá de Porto Rico)
En raison des lois et des traités imposés par les États-Unis, Porto Rico a été contraint d'importer une grande partie de ses denrées alimentaires, ce qui représente un coût énorme pour la population et la planète. Mais l'Organisation d'agriculture biologique Boricuá de Porto Rico organise les communautés rurales et urbaines afin de mettre en place un système alimentaire alternatif sur l'archipel.
L’organisation d’agriculture biologique Boricuá de Porto Rico est une organisation de base pour la justice sociale, environnementale et climatique. L’organisation Boricuá (ou Boricuá) rassemble des agriculteur·rice·s, des organisateur·rice·s, des paysan·ne·s, des travailleur·se·s agricoles, des éducateur·rice·s et des militant·e·s afin de promouvoir et de pratiquer l’agroécologie en tant que vecteur de la souveraineté alimentaire.
Boricuá travaille à la campagne et en ville pour coordonner, planifier et promouvoir des brigades de solidarité dans les fermes. Ces brigades sont une forme d’entraide dans laquelle les fermier·e·s travaillent ensemble pour reconstruire leurs fermes respectives, participer à des ateliers éducatifs, échanger des outils et des semences, et partager des repas. Le mouvement s’efforce également de créer des marchés et des chaînes d’approvisionnement pour que les personnes puissent s’approvisionner auprès des petit·e·s exploitant·e·s qui dépendent de la terre pour vivre.
À une époque où des concepts tels que l’« agroécologie » peuvent être facilement exploités, Boricuá clame haut et fort que si l’on ne travaille pas avec la communauté, il ne s’agit pas d’agroécologie.
