Grassroots International

With sadness and ongoing appreciation, Grassroots International celebrates the life and legacy of Elaine Nonneman. Her contributions to the field of feminist philanthropy stretched across several decades and numerous organizations, and left a profound impact on the lives of countless people and organizations across the globe.

Elaine brought both great energy and probing questions as part of a Climate Justice delegation focused on Just Transformation and Ecological Justice in Puerto Rico. She carried that commitment forward with ongoing donor organizing and an unflinching dedication to global justice.

Elaine was also a passionate advocate for Palestinian liberation, as part of her commitment to liberatory struggles more broadly. In addition to supporting Grassroots International’s work in Palestine and other regions through the foundation she founded, the Channel Foundation, she uplifted Palestine in her donor education and organizing efforts.
