Troubled Waters: A fact sheet on water grabs in Palestine available for World Water Day

March 2014

While Israel and the occupied Palestinian territories are portrayed as a region where water is scarce and where innovation has enabled Israelis to “turn the desert green,” the truth is far more troubling. A new fact sheet from Grassroots International outlines elements of the 60-year water grab by Israel of area water resources, from the Jordon River to the Western Mountain Aquifer.

From Palestine to Brazil to Mali to Haiti, precious water resources face threats from megaprojects, pollution, mining interests and other privatization schemes. Grassroots International joins our global partners and supporters in celebrating the ongoing work to protect the human right to water and commemorate World Water Day

We also invite Boston-area activists to join a special event on The Politics of Water: From Palestine and Israel to Chelsea and Beyond.
