Kalila tem mais de uma década de experiência em organização comunitária nas áreas de moradia acessível, desenvolvimento agrário e justiça ambiental. Foi diretora executiva da Alternatives for Community and Environment (ACE) por oito anos. Antes de entrar para a ACE em 2009, trabalhou como organizadora sênior da Community Labor United. Kalila é graduada pelo Bates College, onde se formou em Espanhol e Estudos Americanos, e também tem um master em Políticas Públicas pela Urban and Environmental Policy and Planning School, da Tufts University. Atualmente reside em Roslindale e gosta de caminhar no jardim botânico, escutar podcasts e cozinhar para amigos e amigas.
