Carol

Director of People and Planning

Carol is the Director of People and Planning at Grassroots International. She jumped into this then-newly created role after nearly 25 years serving as a Director of Development and Communications (including 11 at Grassroots International). Carol loves drafting memos, helping to develop engaged policies, and centering organizational and personal wellbeing, so this position is a happy place.

Long before her days at Grassroots International, Carol started out as an ACORN community organizer in the 1980s. She meant to raise hell, not money, but over time, funding and sustaining social movements became her main obsession, and eventually her vocation. Other pitstops along her vocational journey included working with Witness for Peace and Resist, with time out to earn a Masters of Divinity focusing in the intersection of theology and politics.

When she’s not basking in the glow of behind-the-scenes planning, Carol enjoys making wood furniture, traveling, and serving her feline overlords.
