Director of Global Philanthropy

“ Building a collective protagonism – the transformational energy in ourselves and others – is urgent and necessary in moments of uncertainty and crisis. Our path forward is together and towards a world where we can all have healthy foods, housing, and a life with dignity. ”

As Director of Global Philanthropy, Saulo Araujo leads Grassroots International’s team responsible for mobilizing resources for social movements. In this role, he contributes to the mission of Grassroots International by grounding philanthropic efforts in partner-oriented action. Saulo entered the global philanthropy field after working alongside peasants and Indigenous Peoples for over two decades. This involved partnering with rural and urban youth and families to build pathways towards food sovereignty – the right to healthy foods and to the means to produce them. He carried out this work in a variety of roles, including as an agronomist in Brazil and the United States, as a program coordinator at Grassroots International, and as director of an international grantmaking program at WhyHunger. Saulo fosters relationships with donors, funders, and advisors, identifying ways to build common goals. His vision is to create pathways for mutual learning and alignment with social movements.
