Palestinian Partners Continue Life-Saving Work Despite Devastation and Uncertainty

Amid the so-called ceasefire in Gaza – so far marked more by ongoing violations than lasting relief – we continue to call for a permanent end to the violence. We also want to take a moment to ground ourselves in the reality of what’s unfolding.

Over the past two years, our partners in Palestine have sustained life-saving relief and community care amid the Israeli government’s deliberate destruction of families, homes, hospitals, and vital infrastructure. All but one of our partners’ offices in Gaza have been destroyed. Yet even now, they persist, delivering medical care, food, hygiene kits, and psychological support from tents and mobile clinics, preparing for what comes next, whether that means continuing early recovery or facing another wave of violence.

Israel has repeatedly breached the ceasefire agreement, and hundreds of Palestinians have been killed since it began. Humanitarian aid remains severely restricted, the Rafah border crossing is still closed, and the siege continues. Nearly 60% of Gaza is under Israeli military control, while violence across the West Bank – including attacks on Palestinian farmers during the olive harvest – continues to escalate.

Amid this devastation, our partners are leading what they call early recovery: clearing rubble, restoring access to clean water and healthcare, providing psychological first aid, and creating spaces of dignity and care. These efforts are led by Palestinians, for Palestinians – not dictated by foreign governments or international agencies.

We very much hope that this ceasefire will last and that all the agreements within it are fully implemented.  At the same time, that alone will not be sufficient to respect Palestinians’ right to determine their own future. Without accountability and justice, the same systems that produced genocide will persist. We must continue to take collective action:

In addition, let’s all unite in street mobilizations, call-in campaigns, strikes, and boycotts until Israel’s assaults on the Palestinian people cease, crossings are open, and there is a lasting peace with justice.
